Women in Periodical Publishing – (WIPP) was founded in 1999 by five women who felt the need for an organization that addressed the leadership aspirations of women in print and online periodical publishing. WIPP was formed with two goals: to educate,empower and support women in print and online publishing and to educate,empower and support women through the power of publishing.
WIPP has built a strong and diverse community through regional events,social networking and the annual Women’s Leadership Conference. Each year the board members of WIPP request nominations then select a woman working in publishing for their Exceptional Woman in Publishing Award. Previous recipients of the award include: Gloria Steinem,Bonnie Krueger,Susan Taylor,Ardie and Marie Rodale and Alix Kennedy.
